Comics drawn in the sand
About my comic year 2008, "Desert Story", plans and the new blog.
Those who watch my web adventures can get a bitta frustrated: "Hey, another domain? Another weblog? What the..." Please, don't throw objects. Read.
For me it was 1,5 year of quite intense education. I learned how to publish on Web. I've made many mistakes. Sometimes, hopefully, Sometimes, hopefully, somebody points those mistakes out. Sometimes not.
I met many authors and readers of graphic novels - I like how this term slowly replaces a "comic" word comicbook.
I also participated in some interesting cooperations. Together with Mikołaj Spionek we made the first issue of "Pirat" magazine. With Stéphane Betbeder we fought for contract with biggest French publishers. We failed but I got a lot of expirence and learned what that market wants.
Finally, thanks to Pawel Piechnik I drew 17-page comic for album I still cannot talk about.
There was really a lot comic work for me in 2009. Did I miss something? Oh, yes... Desert Story. The graphic novel I've been working on for last 5 years (or more?). Not finished, yet.

Those frustrated readers from the first paragraph probably want to ask about that - Would I like to finish it, finally? No. Yes.
No. For many reasons this story cannot satisfy all those expectations:
- French publishers don't want to publish it,
- readers are not excited,
- I'm not excited as well - it's so damn far from what I can do now (both text and drawing).
Even if I will publish it by myself - I will be not happy signing and selling it on some comicbook events.
Now, I'm finishing the completely new script based on the old one. The story has changed a lot - I don't wanna talk too much but I'm really happy about that and I strongly believe that readers and publishers will "follow me" too.
The next step is to make 3-5 pages + synopsis (both in French) and to send it to publishers. (This is that moment when you can cross your fingers).

OK, but what's about the new domain? And what the hell all this "ethnopunk" means???
Ethnopunk is a word fitting my whole new vision of graphic novels I would like to write and draw.
Imaginary ethnography - That's what I passionately practice working on the new "Desert Story" script. More about the idea... next time.
